(Nashville, Tenn.) Jan. 9, 2008– Christian Rock leader Pillar continues its big, fun and commanding ways, having reached the
top again. For this round, the GRAMMY-nominated band has left its mark on the music world with its ninth No. 1 radio single,
“For the Love of the Game,” the title-track from Pillar’s
Feb. 26, 2008 release. “For the Love of the Game” hit the No. 1 spot at both R&R and CRW Christian Rock Radio, for the week
ending Jan. 6, 2008.
Pillar lead man, Rob Beckley, puts the accomplishment into perspective. “It doesn’t matter how many times it happens, it’s still a humble, honored feeling to learn one of your songs went to the number one spot at radio. That’s just one of the many reasons why we love what we are privileged to do; which is play rock and roll for a living, and be a part of seeing people’s lives changed.”
RadioU program director, Nikki Cantu, shares her excitement for Pillar. “2008 has started off the right way with Pillar hitting No. 1 with ‘For the Love of the Game.’ The album’s release on Feb. 26th can’t come soon enough!”
Jeff Howe, of WYSZ, Toledo, Ohio, exclaims, “Pillar is a winner with ‘For the Love of the Game’!”
The 10-track For the Love of the Game, which hits stores Feb. 26, 2008, comprises the following: “For the Love of the Game,” “Turn It Up,” “Reckless Youth,” “State of Emergency,” “Smiling Down,” “The Runaway,” “Throwdown,” “Get Back,” “I Fade Away,” and “Forever Starts Now.” The album was recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville, Tenn., and was produced by Travis Wyrick (Disciple, Spoken, P.O.D.).
Since Pillar’s Dove Award-winning debut Above in 2001, the band has tallied nine No. 1 radio singles, 12 top five hits, four Dove Awards, a GRAMMY nomination, had its music on ESPN, eight national headlining tours, covers of numerous national magazines, sales well into the hundreds of thousands, and played for millions. Pillar’s fifth in-studio project, For the Love of the Game, hits stores on Feb. 26, 2008. For the Love of the Game is big, fun, infectious rock and roll that further solidifies Pillar’s position as fearless leaders in the Christian Rock world. Additionally, February of 2008 will bring the start of Pillar’s 3-month headlining tour, the band’s ninth such tour.
